Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

On this last Sunday before Christmas, the girls of Roxie Rose want to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas.  We get caught up in the retail end of gift giving sometimes, but we really enjoy seeing all of our friends (both old and new) when they come into the store.  Hopefully, we have made your time getting ready for Christmas a little more enjoyable and less stressful by offering a place you can come in and browse without crowds and noise.  Also, hope we offered you a little comic relief from time to time.  The reason for the season is not lost on us, we observe the holiday with reverance and respect, but we also enjoy this time of year.  The time with family, baking goodies, decorating the tree, seeing the excitement in the faces of children as the day for Santa to arrive gets closer.  Belief in the spirit of St. Nick helps make our season bright.  Hope Rebel Roxie Rose adds a little cheer to yours too!

Roxie has taken a name from the angel tree at Byrne's Pharmacy for several years and helped a child in our area have a merrier Christmas.  This year was no exception.  She chose an older child (as she usually does) and took unwrapped gifts down to city hall where the gifts will be readied for delivery.  Another place to go to help people in our community is C & S Market.  The food pantry, sponsored by the Eudora Baptist Church, has containers set up at the store where you can add to the collection of food that will be used for people in our own area.  You would be surprised at the number of people that do not have any extra money for a special Christmas dinner for their family.  For the ones of us that are blessed with enough food and money to be comfortable, it would be nice to help someone else right here in town.

Now, that said, come in today and get some of your Christmas Shopping done at Rebel Roxie Rose.  I will be there from Noon to 5:00 p.m.  Come by and I might surprise you with a sale or two!

Roxie's Closet has all clothing on clearance for $5 each.  Come in and see what we have available.  All new, brand name clothing we purchased in a lot.  Various sizes from XS - 3X.

Come and shop with us.  We are the original store offering products made by area artisans.  Vendors are part of our cooperative and have to live no farther than 250 miles from Eudora, KS.  Don't accept any imitations.  Rebel Roxie Rose truly believes in "buy local think global".  Support and stimulate your local economy.  None of our products have been purchased from websites offering handmade products from across the nation.  We will set up a meet and greet sometime after the first of the year for our vendors to come into the store.  At this time, no one is farther than 150 miles from the store.  We have members from Kansas City spread along west to just south of Junction City, KS.  Keeping it close to home--until next blog!

IS IT TRUE? Has the Grinch Stole Christmas?

The ginger spokes figures for Rebel Roxie Rose are at it again.  They are brutally honest.  Of course, as I have said about them before, when you are made of wood, you try to avoid being tactful (and you certainly don't want to be TACKful).  HAHAHAHAHAHA!  Gina and George Gingerbread are totally inappropriate, often harsh, and can be downright nasty.

Gina can be such a mean b****.  We have to really watch her.  We found out she disagrees with George about taking over the store.  She is bent on "TAKING OVER THE WORLD"!  I knew you couldn't trust ginger people!

I will be going in at noon to see what they are up to today.  Please come by and shop in our store.  All the sales I mentioned in the previous blog are still going on.  We added new products in the last 2 days.  Our "Stampin' Up" vendor has already sold 2 of her countdown to Christmas magnetic sheets.  Gail's Doll Clothes has added hats and scarves of all colors, types, and styles to her inventory.  Last night Scented Flame brought in a display of Lippity Dew lip balm with 20 flavor varieties.  Come in an sample it and then buy several for stocking stuffers.  $2.50 each and contains beeswax and emu oil.  Smells good, feels good, and a great product.

More on our products later.  Have to go . . . .

COME IN AND SAVE! Big Sale This Weekend.

We had a big rush this morning on our specials.  There are items left, but they are going fast.  We are open until 5:00 today.  We open from noon until 5:00 on Sunday.  Just two weeks left until Christmas.  Take advantage of our BOGO on handmade soap and our "2 fers" on jewelry.  There are 1/2 price selected items and feather pins for $1 each.  All handcrafted.

Many of our vendors are on facebook.  They are all artisans with one thing in common; making quality products they think people would enjoy owning.  Make sure to come in to our store and show these vendors your appreciation.  Look for links to our vendors coming to this blog in the near future.

The truth of the matter is:  we love seeing people at the store.  Making affordable quality products is something else we enjoy,  Our store is not downtown, but only a block off of main.  We would love to keep our doors open, but without your patronage, we won't be able to be there to sell all of our cute Valentine products in February.  So come on in and see us.  Check out what we have in the store.  We will be adding products as time goes on.

Right now, we are putting many of our products on sale to make room for new ones.  Come in and take advantage of the great prices.  Once Roxie Rose sells these products from her line, there will not be any exactly like it again.  That is what makes "handcrafted" unique and special.

Hope to see you this afternoon and/or tomorrow afternoon.  We will be closed Monday to gear up for the 12 days until Christmas, beginning Tuesday.

We Need Some Christmas Money! Our Loss, Your Gain!

If you follow our blog (and many of you do, since I see we have had over 300 hits in the last month) you know we have been trying lots of things to promote our store.  This weekend, one of our most popular vendors is having a BOGO sale on their soaps.  Roxie's Closet will jump on the bandwagon with a big sale of their own.  Roxie will put her line of hats on sale for $5.00 each.  Also, the new, brand name clothing we purchase in lots will go on sale for $5.00 each piece.  The intention was to hand embellish each piece before selling it.  We really don't have time to do this, so we are selling the pieces we have in stock for $5.00 each piece,  So come in and take advantage of a BIG sale.

Also, there are new feather earrings.  All $3.00 earrings are $3 each or 2 for 5.00.  Done miss this great sales event!!!!!

Big Pink Balls, Christmas Lights, Soap, and Signs

Just a quick word before going in to the store.  Last night Roxie and Rose went down to the store (with my husband in tow for lifting) and added new lighting to the store.  A big addition was six big, glittery, hot pink balls Roxie got up on the ladder and hung.  Come by and see our big pink balls!  Also, more Christmas lights were added and extra lamps were placed around the room.

Received a call from our candle and soap makers.  They are running a promotion through our store.  Come in and check out their bar soap.  It is pretty and smells nice.  This Saturday and Sunday they are having a BOGO sale on the soap.  Buy one bar and get the second bar of the same or lesser value for free.  Two for one.  You say you don't use bar soap in your bath or shower?  This is great soap for your guests to use at the sink, to put in drawers and linen closets to freshen those closed up areas, or put a bar under the seat of your car to have a long lasting scent inside your auto.  Soap is for more than cleaning yourself, at least this soap is!

Gotta go!  Have lots to do today.  Need to get the sign ready to set up in the parking lot.  I am excited about getting the sign up, but my family has warned me that it is possible someone may run over it.  I want you to know, I would be crushed if that happened.

I'll keep you apprised of the sign saga . . . .

Switching It Up

Today was a busy one.  The front window of the store got a makeover.  The big white tree is now front and center with the black arm chairs on each side.  Patty is still gazing (as well as she can without a head) out the window.  Santa now stands watching over the parking lot from his perch on one of the arm chairs.  The snowman has stayed in his original spot.  Our vintage (48 year old) artificial tree has been retired from the store for this year.  We have added two spokes gingerbread figures to our group.  George and Gina Gingerbread will be our spokesfigures until Christmas.  They will supply their own special brand of commentary on a daily basis.

I'll be there tomorrow and we will see what George and Gina have to say.  See you at the store . . .

IT MUST BE A SIGN!

Yesterday, we had to be over at Leavenworth on some business.  While we were there we made a stop at the Leavenworth Antique Mall which is downtown.  We go there whenever we are over there and time allows.  It is a great shop with 3 floors of antiques and collectibles.  I am always looking for the special donkey and cart planters that I collect.  They are not just any planters, they are signed and numbered.  Everyone is similar, but not the same and they are always signed "Italy" and a piece number with the number of pieces produced for that specific design.  They were made mostly in the late 1940's and early 50's.  They are pretty ugly, but I love to find them.  But I guess I need to go on and make my point about the title of this blog.

During our trip there, I asked the owner of the shop if anyone had brought in one of those old style sidewalk signs businesses used to set out in front of their stores to advertise their events.  We have been looking for something to set out in the parking lot or out closer to the road so people would know we were open back in our corner.  To my surprise, she said she had a frame we could probably use.  I couldn't imagine what she was talking about, and then her partner brought out this metal A frame with hinges on the top.  I was thrilled to have found something.  When we went to pay before leaving, she told us we could just have it.  I couldn't believe it.  That was so nice of her.  We need to do some work on it and get our sign put in it, but this is something like we envision:

Many of our customers were telling us they didn't know we were there or didn't know if we were open.  Several suggested a sign closer to the road, which we were in total agreement.  Then we had to go to Leavenworth and had time to go downtown.  Finding what we needed was a wonderful surprise.  Thus the title of my blog.  Finding this sidewalk sign and all the things leading up to our being there was one of those deals when everything falls into place.  I believe my family thinks I have gone a little over the edge being so pleased to have obtained a metal frame.  But you have to admit, finding something you were looking for in a place you really didn't think might have it . . . well, it must mean something.  IT MUST BE A SIGN.  (No pun intended . . . well maybe a little).

Look for our "new" sign to be done in the next couple of days.  Be sure to pull in to the store and come in and visit when you see it.  We have more candles coming in tonight.  New scents and some favorite ones to be restocked.  See you at the store . . . .

Are You Looking For Us? Do You Even Care If You Find Us?

Hope the title got your attention.  We have had several complaints about how hard we are to find.  We have added lights to the front window, decorated the building, and set things outside the shop when we are open.  However, tucked away like we are in the corner between the empty doctor's office and the new optometrist, we understand how hard it can be to find us.

Cute and Christmasy.  Come and See What We Have Inside!

We have considered dressing up in some wild outfit and walking around down by the road with a sign, but the cold weather put that idea to rest.  One of those big balloons on the roof came to mind, but that seemed a little extreme (and probably quite costly).  I wanted to check into renting a spotlight, but the rest of the crew shot that down.  A sign on the end of the building would be nice, but I believe the rest of the world would prefer that we put our sign on our part of the building.  Again, the tucked away factor comes into play.  We are working with Fullbright Signs to get our window lettering up, but it won't be enough.  We need to let people know when we are open.

We have decided on something simple.  A sign down by the street saying Rebel Roxie Rose is open Tues-Saturday and Sunday afternoons until Christmas.  What do you think?  Would that make it easier to find us?  Roxie and I thought of the sandwich board approach.  (It has worked at craft shows).  However, it seems undignified to some.  Anyone who knows us, knows just how dignified we are!  NOT!

Right now, we are closed since it is Monday and our day off.  But on this day off, we need to get checks written to our vendors, clean and cook at home, make new products for the store, and made a trip to Leavenworth.  Then we will be back in the store tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. and will stay until 6:00 Tuesday through Friday.  Saturday we will show up at 10 a.m. and leave at 5:00 or so, unless someone wants us to stay open later and we will.  Sunday we will open noon to 5:00.  Come by and do some Christmas shopping with us.  We have lots of new products coming in this week.

Scented Flame, our candle makers, are adding new scents this week.  Come in and take a free sniff of the newest candles.  They are bringing in Nutcracker and Snowballs.  Also, the ever popular Apple, Peach, Cinnamon is being restocked.

New tutus have been added.  There will be new and different jewelry coming in also.  Looking for some cards to be brought in soon.  Don't miss coming in and seeing everything new.  Plus if the men want to come, we have chairs for them to sit while they wait.

I always have more to say, but will stop for now.  Until next blog . . . .

The Sun is Shining and Roxie Rose will be Open this Afternoon

Yesterday was an icky day.  Cold rain, low clouds, and just plain dark.  Nice if you didn't have to get out in it.  But today, the sun is back out and looks like it will climb into the 40's (remember when we were all complaining about how hot it was?).  Put on your coats and run into see me this afternoon.  The store will be open and I will look forward to seeing all of you.  We have some new things in the store, so come on by.  We are redoing our front window, too.

Today is the Eudora Holiday Extravaganza at the high school.  I am working and the other half of Roxie Rose has a kid with a cold.  Even though we won't be able to attend, we will have our western themed tree there for the auction.  The creative side of RRR (not me) made the all the decorations for this tree, including the denim garland and designed the angel at the top of the tree.  My only contribution was the putting together the tree skirt.  I just followed the theme after being given the materials and made a skirt to go with the tree.  The tree has been on display in the store since mid November.  Since we had several western & country themed products come in, Rose thought it would be fun to made a tree themed along those lines.  Go out to the high school between 2 and 5 and see all the trees donated by several Eudora businesses.  They will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to Midnight Farms that supports an equestrian program for children with special needs.

I will be taking the tree out right before noon.  Then I will get back and open the store.  If I am not right there, wait for me or give me a call.  The phone number is on the hours sheet on the window.  Remember, if you can't shop during our regular hours and would like to be able to come in and browse, give us a call.  We can set up a time for you and your family and friends to come in when it is convenient for you.  We are a small family run business and are extremely flexible.

Hope to see you this afternoon.

The First Big Shopping Weekend of December. Shop with Us in Eudora!

Rebel Roxie Rose and other small businesses here in Eudora are counting on the Christmas season to take us through January when the weather will slow shoppers down to a crawl.  We all need your dollars spent right here in town.  For us, this weekend and next will be a make it or break it shopping time.  We were encouraged yesterday when people came in and were talking about coming back for birthday presents and talking about coming in next year to buy things we have in the store now.  We have our fingers crossed that we can stay open and be here to supply you with choices that were not available here in Eudora just 2 months ago.  We need your dollars now to stay here year round.  Thank you to each and every one of you who have come in and purchased from us.  Please tell your friends we are here.  We are working on new products every day and evening to make sure you have plenty of choices.

Also, many people from Lawrence (especially the people living on the Eastern edge) like to come here to shop.  Yesterday a man was telling me that his family and many of his neighbors in the Prairie Park area in Lawrence like to come to Eudora to shop and also like to come to our pool in the summer.  We need to be sure these people have things to buy when they come over to see us.  It will help stimulate our economy, add jobs, and add money to our coffers.  Shop with us and other small businesses here and you are helping our town remain solvent.

We are lucky to have shops that offer some unique and unusual things in our town.  Besides us, there are businesses downtown, on 10th Street, on Church Street, and across the bridge.  Let's work together and keep everyone going.  Christmas time is the best time to start doing that very thing.

Tired of me begging for your business?  Ok, I'll give you another reason to come in this weekend.  All of the products from Western Star Design will be 10% off this weekend only.  Western Star Design is owned and operated by Connie Moll who lives between DeSoto and Gardner.  Connie is a professional florist and has brought us some beautiful wreaths, floral arrangements, and occasional chairs done in Western style design.  We have 3 Christmas wreaths left and they need a home.  Buy them this weekend and save.  Don't miss this sale!
Western Star Design Sample Products -- Christmas Wreath, Chair, and Pillow from last month's window display.
Candle courtesy of Scented Flame.

New doll clothes are being made as we speak.  Come in for clothes for the 18" dolls like American Girl Dolls, Fancy Nancy, Madame Alexander, and more.  We even have clothing to fit Cabbage Patch dolls at very reasonable prices.  Look to Roxie Rose for affordable Christmas presents.

Don't forget your stocking stuffers for kids and adults.  We have lots of inexpensive items to fill those stockings.  Santa needs a little help, he can't fill those stockings up all by himself.

Please note:  We are Santa Approved.  We have a sign in our window saying so.  Also, an endorsement from Santa himself saying "Mrs. Claus shops at Rebel Roxie Rose".  Come and see for yourself.  We have (actually Roxie did the work) Christmas Decorations on the outside of our building.  We are very festive.  Three trees inside, all decorated with ornaments that are for sale (more affordable stocking stuffers).

Come in to Rebel Roxie Rose and enjoy our Christmas funderland.  Not exactly a wonderland, but lots of fun!  DON'T FORGET WE ARE OPEN THIS SUNDAY AND THE SUNDAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS FROM NOON UNTIL 5:00 P.M.  See you at the store!

December 1 and the Rush is On

The calendar has turned its page to December 1.  This is it, just a little more than 3 weeks until the big day.  That one day of the year most people want to be perfect for their family.  When you go out to get those perfect gifts, remember it isn't how much you spend, it is the thought that counts.

Wasn't that a nice sentiment?  The thing is, most of us throw caution to the wind and go way over budget.  We try to buy what they want, what we think they want, and what we want to get them.  But before you spend all of your money, come over to Eudora and shop our little store that is chock full of all kinds of handcrafted and hand-embellished items.  You knew I would have to get a plug in there somewhere for Rebel Roxie Rose.

Seriously, you don't have to spend a fortune to get a nice gift for friends and family when you come to our store.  Watch this blog for specials coming up this weekend.  We have some wonderful Christmas items and are adding a new vendor this weekend.  She will be supplying us with some great magnet boards, garlands, stocking stuffers and more.

Don't miss our first Sunday afternoon we will be open.  We will be there from Noon to 5:00.  We want to see all of you there!  Let us know that you read this blog when you come in.  We are always interested in meeting our followers.

Rebel Roxie Rose is donating a western themed decorated Christmas tree to the Eudora Holiday Extravaganza Open House.  Every ornament was handcrafted.  Even the tree topper is a Western Angel.  The event will be held at the Eudora High School this Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00.  See all the trees at www.facebook.com/pages/Eudora-Chamber-of-Commerce/.  All proceeds from the Christmas tree auction will be donated to Midnight Farms.  Purchase a ticket at the Eudora Holiday Extravaganza Open House on December 4th from 2-5pm for a chance to win a $100.00 gift card to Wal-Mart. $1.00 per ticket, $5.00 for 6 tickets or $10.00 for 15 tickets.  There will be sleigh rides and more at the Open House, so please plan to attend.  While you are out and about come and see us at Rebel Roxie Rose (like how I got that plug in there again?)

Be sure to go out and see our tree along with all the others.  You may find one your want to buy and take home.  The Western Tree will be on display at the store through Saturday.  Hope to see you soon!
