Summer is unofficially here--sidewalk sale time!

Shoppers hurrying to Rebel Roxie Rose's sidewalk sale!

When I think of summer and feel the heat and humidity, I think of being outdoors, summer evenings, and sidewalk sales.  I grew up going to the sidewalk bazaar in Lawrence every year.  My mom and I would get up early and find a good parking place.  We knew we couldn't move the car, because as the day went on there would be no parking spaces to be found.  We walked up and down the streets looking at all the wares and buying along the way.  There are items I remember getting during that sale.

One that stands out, was a vinyl covered storage box with a hinged lid.  It was turquoise and off white with a cushioned top.  It was placed in my bedroom and I used it for years.  There were odds and ends stored in it.  My friends and I sat on it.  I loved that thing.  When I moved out and started my own home, it was left behind.  My mom used it to store her fabric in for years.  It traveled to Texas and back with them.  It sat in her bedroom holding fabric until she was done with it.  After over 40 years of faithful storage, it finally gave up the ghost.  With the button cover long gone, the sides started disintegrating and it was time to let it go.  Such a touching tale of just a storage box.  But one never knows what treasures will be found at any sale that includes a variety of items people decide to mark down when the time comes to weed out and make room for more and different items.

Rebel Roxie Rose is having its first sidewalk sale on the same day as the city wide garage sale.  Be sure to come and see us Saturday, June 16.  We will have sales inside and outside the store.  We will have several locally handmade products for 50% off.  There will be items to buy for 25 and 50 cents.  Lots of $1 items.  Candles will be discounted.  We will have grab bags for $3.00 each.  They are marked with hints for who and/or what they are for.  Each one will include well over $3 worth of merchandise in them.  These are one day only offerings.  Make sure to come by and get the best prices on lots of new products that are in season.  While you are here, think about buying for Dad.  Father's day is June 17.  We will have lots to choose from for the man in your life.

We will have FANTASTIC deals.  Going all out to get your business.  Everything in our store is either made, produced, or purchased within 150 miles of our store.  Don't miss this event.  We are counting on you to shop at our store and want to make it a good (and fun) experience.

Until next blog . . . . .
