When Will Rebel Roxie Rose Be Open?

We are celebrating the end of January (although it was a nice month weather-wise), by extending our hours in anticipation of your convenience for the Valentine season.  Tomorrow we will open at 10:30 and close at 6:00.  If you need to come by earlier or later, just call and we will set up an appointment to meet you at the store.

We are a store for more than just the holidays.  Need birthday gifts?  How about an anniversary?  Maybe you would like to have something for yourself.  We have something for everyone and for all ages.  Do you know someone that is a member of the Red Hat Society?  We have lots of new products that would delight that special someone.

We're out of the store today and won't be available to open today, but we will be in there the rest of the week.  During the week before Valentine we will be open regular hours plus Sunday and Monday before Valentine's day.  Start thinking about getting your sweetheart something special.  We have framed Valentine poems (just 4 line ditties) for your sweetheart, husband, wife, son, daughter, and more on the way.  Need a special poem written?  There is still time for a special order.

We have beautiful cards you can write your own sentiment in and cute valentine goodies for anyone you want to give a little something to for that special day.  Our own Jeanna Linzer is a Stampin' Up representative and makes some really wonderful things.  There are wall banners and hangers in the store and even a Valentine Advent Calendar that counts the days down in a very special way.  Hurry in to get it before too many days pass in February.

Enough about all that.  Thanks for reading my blog.  I will try to think of something really interesting the next time I write.  Today. . . well it is Monday!  Better let you go until next time.

WE MADE IT!!! We went over the 100 likes on facebook.

Rebel Roxie Rose now has 102 likes on facebook.  That may not seem like a big deal to some businesses, but for our little store it is amazing.  Right before starting the store, we had 8 "likes" on facebook.  After running contests and friends helping share our page, we have our first 100 likes and are grateful for each and every one of you.

Our attorney here in town, Amy Durkin, came in with her daughter yesterday for the first time in the store.  She has been a facebook friend of the store for awhile now.  Please let us know when you come in if you have liked us on facebook.  We like meeting you face to face.

Lots of new products are coming in to the store.  Here are some photos.

Super cute IPad/Galaxy Case $24, Nook Color/Kindle Fire Case $20. From Haute To Sew

  Hand beaded with glass beads on hypoallergenic, nickel free posts. $4 a pair. (Colors are brighter than shown in picture)

 And there are lots more to choose from in the store.  Come in and visit us.  Check out all of our cute Valentine offerings before they are gone.  Special Valentine gifts and jewelry available.

Hope to see you soon . . . . . .

Yay!!! Our Blog Just Went Over the 1000 Page Views Mark

I realize that many of the views are the same people over and over, but I love seeing that number go up!  We hope you enjoy our blog and maybe get a chuckle from it every now and then.  Rebel Roxie Rose is not open today, but will begin opening on Tuesdays next week again.  Today we are working on things for the store.  (We don't really have a day off.)

Also, I want to let everyone know, we are on twitter now.  You can follow us @rebelroxierose.  Every now and then we might tweet something worth reading!  Does that mean we are tweeters or twits?  Anyway, lots of folks are on twitter and we thought we would join in the fun.

Thanks to all who read (or scan) this blog.  Please come by and visit the store this week.  Our store is adorable and affordable.  Don't miss us.

Until next blog . . . .

What will it take to get more people to like us on Facebook?

I have been looking at other sites.  Some bigger businesses have hundreds, even thousands of likes on facebook.  Many of the smaller businesses, like ours or smaller, have over two or three hundred likes.  Here we are just trying to reach 100.  Some of the problem is, I can't even get my own friends and family to hit the like button on Rebel Roxie Rose.  They do follow my personal page, but not the business page.  If you are reading this and have not liked us at Rebel Roxie Rose, please do so now.

Anyone know what we are doing wrong?  The store is adorable and affordable.  But first we must have customers come in and at least look around to be able to spread the word.  We mainly depend on word of mouth for advertisement.  If your mouths aren't talking (or your fingers walking) we don't get the news out about our store.

What do we carry in our little store?
Items locally handcrafted;
Home decor,
A little bit of vintage,
Gifts and a whole lot more.

See?  I even wrote a little ditty to get you interested.  Pass this on to your friends and family.  Don't think they will come to our store?  Think it is too long a drive?  Not so.  We had people coming from Topeka to Olathe just to shop at Roxie 2 years ago and gasoline was high then too.  Eudora is on the way from Johnson County to Lawrence and Topeka.  There are many people that drive that trek often.  Not only is Roxie in Eudora, we now have Penny Annie's Sweet Shoppe downtown (were in Lawrence for 23 years) and many people drive for miles to go to Penny Annie's.  We also have the Bits and Pieces Quilt Shop downtown Eudora.  Another destination store.  Do you have any idea how many miles people will drive to come to Bits and Pieces?  Plus there in the Past and Presents Antique Store, The Filling Station Gift Shop, Jasmine's Restaurant (a place that serves both great chinese and mexican food), Anthony's Diner and The Black Cat Cafe downtown besides the bank, an attorney, a savings and loan, a plumber, 2 tax accountants, 2 hair salons and more downtown Eudora.  We have a Casey's General Store at 10th and Church.  Then out by the highway there is Java to Go (a great place to get your morning coffee), Gambino's Pizza, Subway, Sonic, Dairy Queen, and Kwik Shop.  There are also 2 chiropractors, a dance studio, a laundry mat, grocery store and more out there.  If you go across the K-10 bridge South, we have Byrne's Pharmacy in the new Eudora medical center.  Across the way we have Cutter's Bar-B-Que (some of these people are related to Eudora's own Wolf Hamlin who just made it to the next level on  American Idol) and several other businesses.

So there are lots of reasons for people to come to Eudora.  We have grown in the last several years.  No longer are we the little quiet village of 1300 people.  We now have over 6000 residents and are growing.  Like us on facebook, follow us here, tell your friends about us and pass the word.  We want and need business.

Now I will get down off my soap box until next time.  Just please get out the word!!!!

The Go for 100 Facebook Prize Giveaway

Today we started a new contest on Facebook.  We have 85 likes (friends) on facebook on the page for Rebel Roxie Rose.  Roxie made a special feather hair clip with some serious bling on it (very classy) to give to the 100th person that "likes" the Rebel Roxie Rose facebook page.  If that 100th like was recommended by one of our current 85 friends, there will be a prize for that person as well.  An amazing fact that I found out today (by checking the stats on our page), our 85 friends have over 20,400 friends among them.  That is a whole lot of contacts!

Rebel Roxie Rose is going all out to spread the word about our shop.  We have run ads on Craigslist, in the Trading Post, and the Lawrence Journal World; updated our Facebook page regularly, written this blog, and passed out fliers like crazy.

Tomorrow, the Roxie Rose girls will go out and start spreading posters in the towns out around Eudora.  Wellsville, Baldwin, Gardner, DeSoto and more.  We need to get the word out that we are here and starting a Valentine Registry this next week.  Anyone can come in the store and get a wish list card to fill out.  We will file it under their name and when their family and friends come in they can ask for their list and pick something they know their special someone will like.

We will open on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. and remain open until 6:00 p.m. and those hours are good for Thursday and Friday too.  Next Saturday we will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Anniversaries, Birthdays, Valentine's Day--What do these things have in common?

"Roxie" and her husband celebrated their 10 year wedding anniversary yesterday.  They were able to go for a short overnight trip last weekend, which was nice.  We felt they deserved a little something extra for staying together for ten years, especially these last ten years when our nation as a whole has gone through so much change.  It was a tough ten years as history goes, but they stayed together and are raising their two little children.  So, my husband and I offered to take the family out to eat.  They opted to have us over to eat at their home.  We (my hubby did the spending) went down to the local restaurant, Jasmine's, and ordered every one's favorite dishes to go.  Jasmine's Restaurant is a wonderful place.  They serve two menus for lunch and dinner.  Each menu offers a wide variety of Chinese and Mexican dishes.  One of our family favorite places to eat.

It was nice to sit down at the table with our children and grandchildren to have dinner and great conversation.  After dinner, "Roxie" offered dessert.  She had made her husband's favorite cookie, chocolate-peanut butter-oatmeal no bake.  If you haven't had them, you need to get her recipe.  Not all no bakes are made the same and these were delicious!

To commemorate their anniversary, we purchased a gift from our own store.  She had mentioned how much she liked the vintage Martini case, lettered by Calico, with the martini glasses etched his and hers.  After several people looking at it, I bought it before it was gone.  They loved it.

So there you have it. What do anniversaries, birthday, and Valentine's Day have in common? We give gifts. Rebel Roxie Rose has added so many new products this last week it would be impossible to tell you about all of them, but we will put some pictures here so you can see some of them.

Love from Roxie and Rose

Here it is Saturday and Where is Everyone?

I keep hearing from other business owners how slow January is here in town.  No kidding!  There are several new businesses here i Eudora that are waiting for . . . we don't know what.   Some say customers are trying to get over Christmas, some are saying people are waiting for tax returns to come, and some don't say.

I say if you have a birthday or anniversary, bridal shower or baby shower or any other occasion to buy for you need to check out our store.  We are gettting new items daily.

If you are looking for something special come in and check us out.   Until nextn
 time.

We Are Lonesome Down at the Old Store

Man, we had some really good business before Christmas.  REALLY GOOD!  But since that time, it has been really slow.  Right now, I want to thank the ones that have come into the store.  We appreciate all of your business.  It was so slow today (you ask "how slow was it?") that Roxie had time to make 16 of the cutest burp rags you have ever seen.  Small, medium, and large in different thicknesses to fit the needs of mom.  The smallest will go into your purse or diaper bag.  They are made with quality cotton fabric on one side and thick material on the other to stop "burp-through".  Each one is only $3.00.  Come in an get them while they last.

And what did Rose have time to do?  She wrote a poem.  One about sadness and loneliness.  Here it is for all of our blog readers.

Roxie and Rose are all alone and by themselves;
   Cute stuff sitting all over the counters and shelves.
With little business after Christmas our patience run thin;
   Figured out it may end up that we just can’t win.
Ten years ago we started making things we couldn’t buy;
   Made items ourselves because products were so high.
Went to the craft shows to share our quality things;
   Many customers liked our offerings of bling.
Then came the idea of a shop filled with handcrafted goods;
   Made by us and some friends from the neighborhood.
Asked people we knew from our craft show days;
    To join our little co-op and said yes with few delays.
Here we are putting ourselves on the line;
    With little business and plenty of time;
Need something for a birthday, anniversary or just because?
    Want something and we are closed, just call--we won’t pause.
Quick as a flash and we will come to the store;
    With keys in our hand and we will open the door.
We will invite you in as we flip on the lights;
     And you can shop to your little heart’s delight.
If you need a gift or something cute for your home;
    Think of Rebel Roxie Rose sitting and waiting all alone.
We will do what it takes to make our customers happy;
    Even go so far as to write a poem that is just so sappy.

Please think of us when buying gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and more.  We have lots of cute items.  The people in Eudora want and need businesses so they can shop locally.  If you want the small businesses to stay, please be sure to support all of us.  Thanks until next time.

Feel Any Different?

The New Year has arrived.  Hoop-Dee-Do!  How many of you made it to see the ball drop?  We made it, but just barely.  We watched it from bed and then went directly to sleep (but not until we saw Dick Clark and the confetti falling from the sky).  Then I slept late (too late), for now I am up in the middle of the night writing a blog!

What do I like about the new year?  I like to turn the first page up on my Maxine calendar that my daughter gets me every Christmas.  And yes, I do appreciate that she hunts down Maxine each year even though it is sometimes difficult to locate and expensive when it is found.  Also, it is fun to go to the sales.  To see what is being discontinued (and discounted).  Most of all, I like the idea that it is a mini fresh start.  Even though it is just one day from one year to the next, it is also one year.  That "fresh start" idea helps to lift the spirits just a little bit, don't you think?  Even though the time is fleeting for the new year renewal, it is nice to know it will roll around again in 365 (or in this case 366) days.

That's right, this is a leap year.  We all have an extra day to do something.  It can be something great or something small.  It is still an extra day that we get only once every 4 years.  Seems like we should celebrate it in some way.  We celebrate every other occasion that comes along, why not leap year?  There is something we could all get behind.  Official celebration of the extra day in February every 4 years!!!

Actually, I started blogging this time for one reason.  I wanted to say Happy New Year to every one who reads this blog and wish them the best in the coming year.  Oh, that is another thing I like about New Year; having a reason to wish everyone the best for the next year.  Hope it makes you feel good too.  Enjoy your extended weekend.  Rebel Roxie Rose will be closed until Wednesday at 10:00.  The month of January we will be open Wednesday through Saturday 10 - 5.  If you can't get in to see us during our hours, just give us a shout and we will meet you at the store so you can pick up what you need.  Watch for new products coming out soon.  Thanks for keeping track of us and we hope to see you later this week at the store.  Until next time. . . .
