FUN WAS HAD BY ALL!

Rebel Roxie Rose had fun Thursday night and Friday during the day.  We had a tent full of "Roxification" and marked it all down so we could clear out some space for new inventory!  Saw LOTS of familiar faces and had a chance to visit with people we hadn't seen in quite awhile.  Besides the success of the sale, the chance to see our peeps was great!

Roxie Rose is more then just a business venture.  We go out and hunt down cool things.  If it is something we  like and think someone else we will get it and bring it back home.  Sometimes we see something that makes us want to redo it and make it into something else.  We did that yesterday and made a Pet Palace out of an end table.  Wait until you see the finished product!  If you like Boho, you'll love this.  Here is a pic of it in the process of going from ugly and useless to cute and a great place for indoor pets to sleep or lay.  Right now we are finishing the inside.  More pics next time.

Photo: From Ugly and Unuseful to...   Photo: Did more to the top and reinstalled hardware.

Then when we can get outside and set up the tent, we can have a big old party.  It is a place to offer some great stuff and a chance to visit with friends.  Next time we do this, come by if you can.  We enjoy seeing everyone!

Photo: Waiting for 5Here is the one side of the tent.

Here is the otherside before the sale.  Then we put things out front too.  Lots of goodies sold.

We want to thank everyone that came by.  We'll let you know when we do it again.  Xoxo  Roxie and Rose

Want to see more?  Make the trip to the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka.  Kids under 16 are free.  Better to take them through this then to have to be outside playing with them in the snow and freezing your hiney and toes off!
Until next blog . . . or maybe we'll see you this weekend!

Busy Month! Have Lots to Share!

It has been over a month since I have blogged.  During that time we have closed the storefront and moved it to our studio.  Celebrated Christmas and New Year's. Taken (and finished) orders for new products (bibs, necklaces, etc.).  Built a website which is now up and running.  We are currently adding products and pages to it daily.  Find it at:

We have also posted our products and updates on our Facebook page.  Many of you reading this post may not follow us on Facebook, but we have lots of stuff posted on it.  Most of the products we introduce will be placed on Facebook a few hours to a few days before going to the website.

The store was too much for the two of us to run the way we wanted to do it.  Decorating and making products for each season and holiday was increasingly difficult.  We loved seeing everyone that came in, but business in our little hometown runs hot and cold.  We were busy during the slow times getting ready for the rush and could barely keep up when it was busy.  We tried our best to give our customers what they wanted.  Keeping prices low in a time when money was tight for shoppers became more difficult as supply prices rose.

Do we miss our customers and friends coming by to shop and/or see us?  YES, definitely.  Do we miss a place to go to work to make products?  YES.  Trying to work at home is a difficult thing.  Especially when you have to have supplies spread out.  Do we miss all the bookkeeping and waiting for customers to pull in and come through the door every time a car went by?  NO.  The most stressful thing about a storefront is going in to work and being there all day and no one coming in to shop.  That was why we went to Friday and Saturday business hours.  The times we opened up in the evening once a week were either extremely busy or no business at all.  Either way we were wiped out the next day.  We had an excellent landlord that worked with us.  Our neighboring businesses were not always so friendly.  Yes, we knew neither one of them particularly wanted us there.  Hope they enjoy the new tenant more then they did us.  We were a little outspoken, which they may have perceived as rude, but hey, we are who we are!  Rebel Roxie Rose is a store that is on the edge a little.  We are naughty and nice.  Sometimes like to be a little inappropriate, but not SCANDALOUS!  So, for anyone that found us offensive, we are sorry you found us distasteful, but not sorry for being who we are--fun and flirty with a wink of an eye.  We do not take ourselves too seriously, but mean business when it comes to hawking our wares.

Hey and if you want quality products that are both unique and unusual, contact us.  Our prices are based on how much we have in an item.  Just because the price seems low, does not mean it is of poor or substandard  quality.  We try to keep the price fair as we can.  We are usually cheaper on our handmade original design jewelry then the big box stores.  We have items that you can give as gifts and people will like them and ask where they came from.  We have that all the time.  Give us a look see!

Ok, enough blah blah.  Here are some pics of some of the products in our jewelry section at www.rebelroxierose.com.  We will also be going to craft shows in the spring--look for us!
Lock and Key with 19" Chain -- $14.50
8 Inch Vintage New Mix Bracelet with
Strong Magnetic Clasp -- $24.95

7 Inch Vintage New Mix Bracelet
with Lobster Clasp -- $24.95
Royal Heart Necklace Vintage Mix w/36" Chain -- $14.95
There are many more and lower prices.  These are some of our top pieces.  Come and see our selection at www.rebelroxierose.com.

Until next blog . . . .

Rose

We are SOOO ready to move!!!!

Rebel Roxie Rose has been in this storefront for a little over a year.  We built a good following and appreciated all of our business from our customers during this time.  The transition from the storefront to our studio seems to be going amazingly well.. None of our regulars seemed upset and are anxious to see us open the studio where they can call us and make arrangements to come over.  Also, the fact that we will continue to post new products on Facebook and our new website www.rebelroxierose.com is a plus.

So many people that are on our facebook are now out of town and would like to be able to order from us.  Even though we missed the December 10 opening date for our site, it won't be long now.  We have set up our sections and are gathering objects to post.  As soon as our shopping cart is in place we will be good to go.  If you go to the website, you will see some blogging explaining what we are doing.

Last night at the store was really strange.  The Wednesday night before was so busy we couldn't sit down.  Only a hand full came by last night.  We are down to the nitty gritty.  With products going on line, we are trying to sell much of our the inventory at the store at deep discounts.  We are pulling out all the merchandise we have had stored away and putting it out.  We have decided to be on call only on Friday.  Saturday we will open bright and early and have specials all day.  It will be quite a "LAST DAY" before the move sale.  Send in your friends, come in yourself and see what we have both old and new.

Don't miss out on these sales.  We are ready to get started on our next phase and you can take advantage of our great slashed prices.  REMEMBER, Saturday, December 15, 10:30 - ?.  We'll stay as long as you are coming by to buy!

Can you find the little extras I added to this background graphic I built using vintage ads and my own filler?  Hint--there are 5.

Answers:  Black & white ad at top "Shop -- Rebel Roxie Rose".  In the Keep her where she belongs ad "Shopping here at Rebel Roxie Rose".  Happy woman with fridge full of food "Why does this woman look so happy? Doesn't she realize she has to cook all that food and serve it".  Next to her the pink and white filler "Never underestimate the power of a woman".  And finally Shhh! ad with scaredy cats hiding by bush, "And is it any wonder?  Look at those two!".

Until next blog . . .

New Products Made Constantly at Rebel Roxie Rose!

We may be moving from our storefront, but we are going into overdrive making new products to go onto our website that will be www.rebelroxierose.com.  The next two weeks, we will offer many of the newest items in the store at a low introductory price to our customers to give them first chance to purchase some of our newest merchandise.  The earring stock is being replenished.  We will offer many new styles (both fashion and Christmas) in the store for $2 & $3 a pair.  When they go online, they will be higher.  This is an introductory price for our customers coming into the store for the next 2 weeks.

These 3 pictures will show you what is coming soon for $2 a pair.  Wonderful gifts or something for yourself.  These are designed and hand made by Rebel Roxie Rose.  Sorry, but at $2 a pair we cannot supply gift boxes as we usually do in the store.  Small jewelry gift boxes will be available for purchase for an additional charge.

Now, take a look at these for $3 in store only.  Oh la la, these are something wonderful!  Don't miss getting a pair of these beautiful earrings for this low, low price.

AND here is a necklace and earring set priced at $6 in store.

On to other items we made this last few days.
New candle holders fit 3x3 pillar candles.  With Scented Flame candle purchase $2 each.  Purchased alone $3.50.
One of a kind winter bouquet $12.50

one of a kind holiday "bling" vase.  $5.50

FYI, I am getting ready to say something that may be offensive to some, if so skip the next line.

We cannot shit new products.

When we sit down to make items (i.e. bibs, headbands, polymer beads, etc) we have to drag out the equipment and make batches of them.  When we say we have this many and you need to buy them while we have them, we mean it.  Often times, we don't have the spare time to stop and make one of something.  That is why our products get made in groups.  That is how we keep our prices as low as we do.

If we say we only have one.  We only have one.  Either we can't get the object or materials to make more, or the price to get another would be prohibitive.  Some of the things we make are made of materials we have a limited amount of or it was made from something we purchased at a great price.  We do this to give the customer good prices and unusual products.  We cannot always duplicate things.  So even though we want to keep everyone pleased with the choices we have, the nature of what we do leads to one of a kind or at least just a few of similar products.

Hope I didn't offend anyone's sensibilities.  The message is--see something you want or want to give as a gift?  Get it!  It may be gone and no more can be made during the season or possibly ever.

Thanks for checking out our blog and watch for our online store in the near future www.rebelroxierose.com.
Until next blog . . .

Adios, Auf Wiedersehen, Au Revoir, We're Outta Here--at Least Out of Our Storefront

After one year and one month, Rebel Roxie Rose is leaving the store front at 101 W. 10th, Suite B, Eudora, KS.  December 15 will be our last day open in the store.  HOWEVER, we will not be going out of business.  We are simply changing what we are doing to better target our specific audience.  Here at Rebel Roxie Rose, we realize that our handmade items are an acquired taste.  Not everyone digs our vibe!  But that's OK.  For the ones that do--we are going to continue to make our unique and unusual products (some would call them weird, but we prefer not to use that term).

Look for Rebel Roxie Rose online at www.rebelroxierose.com.  We are excited about our new site that should be up and running by December 10, complete with a shopping cart.  We decided to pull on our big girl panties and try to run with the big dogs with an online store.  Many of our regular customers watch Facebook, Instagram, and this blog to see our newest products.  We will continue to keep our Facebook page current and interesting and this blog will continue, but in a different vein.  Rather then just copying a bunch of stuff off of Facebook, the online store will give me an opportunity to update you on what is going on and the trials and tribulations of running an online store, opening up a studio for appointments, and running the craft show circuit.

Yes, we are opening up a studio.  It sounds chic doesn't it?  Studio.  Well, we prefer to call if our ghettio.  It is in the garage of one of our homes.  We have the whole famn damily helping us convert the garage into a presentable space where we can work, keep our online stock and have a showroom where we can have events and be open by appointment for our customers.  Sounds daunting doesn't it?  Well, it is!  Since it is in a garage we feel it is a little ghetto, but it is our studio.  Hence it is now our "ghettio".  Get it?

Quickly, I want to thank everyone who has shopped in our store this last year.  And a special thanks to all of our regular customers who have continued to come in and see what we had to offer and purchased items from us.  Most of these people have become more then customers, we feel we have made many new friends.  Some we knew before, some we recognized from passing in the school, bank, store, etc. and some were new faces.  To all of you, thank you for your support and kindness.  Please keep in touch.

Another thank you needs to go to our landlord, Stan Byrne.  He has been wonderful.  The store is a great space.  He keeps it in good repair.  He has been supportive and gave us encouragement when we felt like we couldn't make it another month.  Stan has been more then a landlord, he has been or friend and has given us good advice (even when we didn't listen and should have).  Thank you, Stan, we owe you ALOT.

If anyone is looking for a great small space, think about this one.  The utilities are low and the building is clean and has plenty of natural light.  It is a wonderful store.  750 sq. ft. of very usable space.

So, to recap.  Closing December 15--last day in the store.  Moving to ghettio.  Will try to have it ready by January 15.  Starting online store by December 10.  Will continue to make our weird and wonderful stuff.  Furniture will still be available and will be online.

Thanks for the last year of purchases, support and some great conversations.  Rebel Roxie Rose will rock on, just in a different place, in a little bit different way.  Until next blog . . . .

What Exactly is Rebel Roxie Rose?

Recently, we received a message from a new facebook friend who lived in another state and wanted to know exactly what type of store was Rebel Roxie Rose.  I could have answered that question at this time last year in a simple sentence.  In the beginning we were a store carrying handcrafted items made by artisans within a 150 mile radius of Eudora.  Over the last year we have changed in order to give the customer what they want and/or need.

Now we are still a coop with a few select members that live and work within 50 miles of Eudora.  All of our artisans make their products themselves.  Some of our artisans are--The Scented Flame, J. Linzer Stampin' Up Creations, Homespun Crafts, Faith N' Jenn, Prim Country, Sandy's Studio, Zany Zanni's Designs and, of course, Rebel Roxie Rose. We now have expanded to vintage items supplied to us by Rebel Roxie Rose, Vintage Vixen, J.R.'s Finds, Bargains & Treasures, and, as a cross over vendor, Prim Country.

We use furniture and items we love for our display units.  Over time people were always wanting to buy our displays.  So, we began buying vintage pieces of furniture; refinishing and refurbishing it to offer it for sale.  We have had many customers come in for our furniture done with the Rebel Roxie Rose or Vintage Vixen touch.  We sell only furniture that is sturdy and in good repair.  We keep our prices as low as possible.  Presently, we were able to purchase a large lot of vintage furniture and knick knacks from a place dealing in vintage items.  We are now offering the furniture in its original condition for low prices.  Customers can purchase it and use it as is or they can add their own touch to it.  Anything that does not sell soon will be redone in classic RRR style and at that time, the price will have to go up.

This wooden table and six chairs comes with 2 leaves.  The cane is in excellent condition on the chairs.  In this original condition, we have it priced at $175.  Can't beat it if you are looking for a good sturdy set that can be expanded for holiday dining.  Don't wait too long.  if we redo it, the price will need to go up.  Come in and take a look at this wonderful piece of quality furniture!

We are now a handmade/home interior/give 'em what they want store.  It is hard to label us.  Are we a gift and home interior store?  Sort of, but we also carry purses, hats, and other accessories purchased new within 150 miles of here.  We don't buy our handmade items off of Etsy.  We don't order in lots from China. We buy local and sell it to you at affordable prices.

Come in and check us out and see for yourself!  We will be open Saturday from 10-5.  We will be posting our extended holiday hours soon.  Our facebook page will give you lots of info about us and when we are open.

Until next blog . . . .

Halloween #2 (not that kind of #2) at Rebel Roxie Rose

Last year Roxie and Rose sat up for Halloween in an empty store;
They dressed up, gave out candy and strange stares they did ignore.

Not too pretty, not too scary, but dressed up just right.
One hard year has come and gone;
But so far we are still here trying to hold on!

Love running the store for people like you.

Fall Preview Special Hours on Wednesday 8/29/2012

This last week was very busy for the Rebel Roxie Rose crew.  Besides being the first week of school for the kiddos, we started our fall hours.  It was tough getting back into the swing of things.  Thankfully, we had a very busy Friday and Saturday.

That meant that on Sunday we were busy restocking the store.  Have we got some goodies for you!  Not only did we add a fantastic bedroom area (complete with antique dresser, full bed with a curved footboard and a night stand), but we added some items we haven't had before.  We have an unusual breakfast tray/lap letter writing desk we are offering for sale.  The legs fold under it for easy storage and when set up, it can be flat or the top can be pulled up to sit at an angle to write letters, checks, notes, or lists.  It is a soft green with a floral design in one corner.  We are not redoing it, but rather leaving it in its original condition.  A unique piece you must see to appreciate.  The picture does not do it justice.

Of course, we found some more jars; all different shapes and sizes.  From quart down to spice size and unusual shapes.  There are knick knacks galore.  Some kitchen items to help make your kitchen look more retro and cozy.  But this Wedneday will be special.  We will hold an event from 5:30-8:30.

The Rebel Roxie Rose Fall Preview

New items and new vendors will be showing their wares on Wednesday evening.  Our vendors will be offering some new items that will be in the store for the first time.  Don't miss out on this.  For the ones of you that cannot make it during the day, we are going to hold these special hours this one day so everyone can come in and browse and get a chance to check out our newest additions.  You will even get to see the beginnings of our (dare I say it?) Halloween display.  We know!  It seems awfully early, but Labor Day is only a few days away and autumn will start kicking into high gear and the days will pass quickly.

Homespun Crafts joined us this last month bringing in Bag Buddies, pin cushions, bibs and burpers with more on the way.  We are making room for The Unique Needle (specializing in heirloom sewing and machine embroidery), and The Violet Pansy (making aprons, children's clothing, adult pjs and more).  Also, Zany Zanni Designs made their debut this weekend with a piece of Drexel furniture that had been completely redone (and now sold).  They are joining us, The Scented Flame and Jeanna Linzer-Stampin' Up, as local (all within 50 miles of our store) vendors supplying our store with handcrafted quality products.  Along with Vintage Vixen, Prim Country, and JR's Finds we have a wonderful variety of local items that are made, purchased, or produced within 150 miles of our shop.  Help us help the area economy.  Every dollar you spend with us stays in our area to help strengthen our economic growth and health.

Don't forget:
Wednesday, August 29
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and stay open until 8:30

Come and see us and check out what's new at Rebel Roxie Rose, 101 W. 10th St., Eudora, KS.
