At 8:00 a.m. today, we will announce the winner of our Rebel Roxie Rose Giveaway. We have had 27 likes and that puts us where we need to be as a public page. Thanks to all of you who signed up as our friends on the Facebook page. There are 8 choices for the winner of the drawing to pick from shown in the attached photo. The lucky fan will have choice of one of the options if his or her name is drawn. The rest of the items will be available for sale at the RRR booth at Eudorafest on Saturday, October 1.
We are busy with last minute preparations for Eudorafest. Hope all of our friends and family will come down and see us. We have a few more openings for vendors at the store. We are looking for quality handcrafted items made within 250 mile of Douglas County.
See you at Eudorafest!
Eudorafest is Saturday, October 1 and Rebel Roxie Rose Will be There
October will be a very busy month for Roxie. First we have Eudorafest Craft Show downtown Eudora, KS. There will be food vendors, arts and craft vendors, music, and fun for all ages. We will be set up on Main Street. Come by and see us.
The Roxie Rose Girls are busy getting everything together for the show and in the meantime working towards getting the store business going. Vendors are signed up and more coming in. We will have a large variety of products from area artisans, including our own handcrafted items.
Today, we put a "Coming Soon" sign on the glass door at the store. The landlord is busy moving the rest of his files and belongings out of the building. The carpenter comes this week to finish the west wall. Then the bathroom gets some work. Finally we get in to paint. Looks like the November opening will be a go. Keep watch on our blog for more info.

Pictures of The Store that will be Rebel Roxie Rose
Around November 1, Rebel Roxie Rose will open the doors at 101 West 10th in Eudora, KS. We are excited to get Roxie up and running. Our 750 square feet will be filled with a variety of great products from local area artisans. Here are some pictures of the building. Many of you may recognize the building that housed Byrne's Pharmacy for many years. The west side of the building has been remodeled and fitted for a new optometrist in town. Our store will be in the east section of the building. There will be plenty of parking in the hard surfaced lot out front.
Watch our blog for more news as vendors are added and the time gets closer for our grand opening!

The Vision for Rebel Roxie Rose
The time for our store to open is approaching. As we bring in both old friends and new ones as vendors and customers, we would like to share our idea for what we envision for the future of "Roxie". As we have said before, we will specialize in unique, quality handcrafted items. Our goal is to have products that will appeal to our customers and make this a profitable venture for the vendors. At first, most of our vendors will be hand picked by us because we have seen their work and have asked them to join. Anyone wishing to join us at the store to sell their products will be asked to submit their product(s) to a committee of five for final approval. Nothing formal, just 5 friends looking at the arts and crafts that will be offered in the store. We are doing this to make sure each vendor has as good a fit in our store as possible. There will be 18 openings for vendors; all with different products to meet the needs and wants of our customers.
Rebel Roxie Rose is not a store full of booths with everyone displaying their own products. Rather, it is a creative collective of artisans offering their quality items through the store which will be set up in departments. There will be unusual jewelry, gift items, home decor, and more offered for sale at affordable prices. Merchandise will change with the seasons.
We support the idea of buy local, think global. Our goal is to sell only items produced within 250 miles of Douglas County, Kansas. This will help stimulate area economy, cut down on the use of natural resources to transport products, and help build a support network between area artisans. Roxie Rose will make their own products out of earth friendly material whenever possible. Always clean and always good quality. As the proprietors of the store, we will offer some vintage chic items.
As time goes on and our customer base grows, we want to offer a wider variety of products. Next year we may offer some prepackaged food items manufactured within our radius of 250 miles. Time will tell. Our contributors (vendors) and our customers will be the key to our success.
We are currently on Facebook as a page under our own names. If you would like to help us acquire a public page for Rebel Roxie Rose, please go to Facebook and type in the search box "Rebel Roxie Rose". When the page comes up, please like us (and then recommend us to your Facebook friends). We need 25 likes (or fans) to have a page of our own. Thank you in advance for your assitance.
Until next time, have a great day.

Some News On The Store
Rebel Roxie Rose is going forward with plans for a store front to open by mid November here in Eudora, KS. Living is Eudora for us is extremely convenient to both Lawrence and the KC metro. Hopefully, our customers from both areas will find it easy to visit our store.
There has been much interest by vendors at the craft shows to join us at the store. We will offer not only our own products, but the handcrafted products of 18 other vendors. Rebel Roxie Rose is not a store to be set up in booth areas, but rather a store set up by department. There will be separate areas for: jewelry, babies & kids, candles, home, and more. Our store will carry a variety of items specializing in quality arts and crafts made by people within 250 miles of Douglas County. We will continue to promote the idea of buy local think global. The store will be something we call a creative collective. All of us work together to bring the customer the best quality for affordable prices. Unique and one of a kind items will be available. The opening date will be posted here on the blog, please keep an eye out for weekly (at least) updates.
Now for more recent news. Here are some pictures of last Sunday's arts and craft festival held at South Park in Lawrence. The ground was uneven, so we had some challanges on set up, but all came out well. Last year, we lost 2 of our pop up tents, so this year we opted for a sun shade which was lighter and easier for the two of us to handle. Nothing fancy, but it worked just fine.
Thanks for checking our blog and we will see you at our next show, the Eudorafest on October 1, 2011. In the mean time, keep checking our blog. We might have something interesting to say!

First Craft Show of our 10th Season was a Success
The first craft show of the season (for us) was set up outside in lovely South Park in Lawrence, Kansas. The park has a gazebo and fountain that is set among flowers and big shade trees maintained by the City of Lawrence. Over 140 exhibiters were on hand for the annual Arts and Crafts Festival.
The next day after a craft show leaves us tired and draggin'. However, it was worth all the set up and enduring the bees and the sun for the chance to see many familiar faces and to meet new ones. The first show of the season for Rebel Roxie Rose went well. Many of our customers from the past nine years stopped by to see our newest additions. Then we were fortunate to meet several new people we hope will return to visit us again and again! We are always introducing new products. We are discontinuing some, but will continue to make your favorites.
We want to thank everyone that came by to see us and the ones who purchased products from us, helped make an enjoyable day a successful one as well. For all of you who purchased the hard candy and lollipops we made, we hope you liked them. The dye free and some gluten free candy was purchased by both young and old. This was a product we opened the season with yesterday, but is not a product we will be continuing with this season. The time it takes to produce the amount of candy we need is too restrictive. We have so many other products we are anxious to make and requests for some of our long standing favorites.
Yesterday, we started a new tradition. A journal was set out for people to leave their e-mail address if they wanted to keep track of Rebel Roxie Rose. We are glad to report several people did sign our book. Many opted to take our business card and stay in touch by checking the blog. We will do our best to keep it current and informative.
We have some news to get out to you, but have to get busy working toward the next event. Watch the blog for news on the store we are planning to open.

Craft Show Season Has Arrived
Here we are in September already. That means the craft shows are starting. Rebel Roxie Rose will attend the first one of the season tomorrow. Come and check us out in South Park near downtown Lawrence, Kansas on Massachusetts street. There are over 140 vendors signed up for this event.
We are adding homemade, hand-poured hard candy and lollipops to our line for this show. After trying to find suckers for the kids, we found most of them were made in China. Too many scary things have been shipped here from China. I personally do not want to feed my grandchildren anything made there.
Our candy is made from products made in the USA. We began making dye-free flavored lollipops and hard candy. A few of the flavors of candy do have dye in them, but are gluten free. We are offering several flavors, including Dreamsicle, Grape, Apple, Lemon, Citrus, and Anise. Prices for lollipops start at 50 cents and 3 oz. packages of hard candy are only $2.00. Come by our booth and see what we have available.
As usual, we will have inexpensive earrings, tutus, and more. Don't miss this show that officially kicks off the season in Lawrence.
Enjoy this wonderful weather. Hope to see you there.
