Roxie and Rose to be at the New Storefront Halloween

Come by Rebel Roxie Rose on Halloween Night.  Remodeling is almost done and we have received permission to hand out treats at the store.  Bring your little ghouls, goblins, super heroes, witches, and all the rest down to Rebel Roxie Rose (what used to be Byrne Pharmacy).  We will start at 5:00 like the downtown merchants and continue to give candy until 8:00 when our own little goblins will need to head home.  We look forward to seeing you there.  Wishing you a happy and safe halloween!!!

Roxie's Halloween At The Store....

On the eve of Halloween,

A trifecta of witches will gather and be seen.

Standing in the shadow of old "Rebel Roxie Rose,"

Possibly with paint and dust on their nose.

That won't stop this coven from gathering,

We'll go home and dress up after some lathering....

We will wait for the ghouls, zombies, and little witches,

And forget the long days and all of the bitches.

Treats will be there,

There will be enough the kiddies won't have to share.

Not just the typical sugary delights,

Toys and such that make your imagination take flight.

So, bring all you costume crew to our door,

You will a nice little treat and so much more.......

Rebel Roxie Rose is Running a Contest on Facebook And More

Just a reminder for those who participate in Facebook.  There is a Guessing Jar contest that ends on Sunday for our Facebook friends.  Check it out.

Of course, not everyone is into Facebook.  I didn't want to use it.  I fought it all the way.  Kristi set up a page for me and I didn't use it forever.  Then people started saying, this is on Facebook that is on Facebook.  Reluctantly, I started using it.  I didn't figure I had anything to say that anyone would be interested in (I still don't think anyone is interested in my opinion and I have lots of them!).  Anyway, Rebel Roxie Rose is on Facebook and so am I.  Guess it is a sign of the times.

I regress, Rebel Roxie Rose will run contests and giveaways, offer specials, etc. in the store.  Be sure to come and see us once we are set up and in full swing.

We posted one of the vendor's the other day.  Here is another--A Lady With A Baby, out of Lawrence, Kansas.  To quote from her Facebook page regarding her business:

"Function and style collide at A Lady With A Baby! Life is going to be messy, we know that, but that doesn't mean that we can't look cute while we do it. We carry reversible baby bibs for girls and boys as well as aprons for ladies, men, and the kiddos."
Cute Retro Apron
Finally, some great "boy" bibs

Fun and functional. A Lady With A Baby is a part of the creative collective at Rebel Roxie Rose. We are proud to display her handcrafted products in the shop.

Making Stock for Roxie Rose, Have Paperwork Stacked to My Nose

Just a quick blog to let everyone know we are set up working like little soldiers.  Sewing, glueing, doing everything we can think of to get ready for the store.  Kristi and I have tried to find a person to make doll clothes for 18" dolls.  Do you realize how difficult it is to find anyone who wants to do that for a store?  Let me tell you, really difficult.  So, she sat down at the sewing machine today and started making doll clothes.  The first set she made was using a set of PJs her son had out grown.  She made a set of "Ben 10" PJs for her daughter's little boy cabbage patch doll.  Then she decided to make some pants for 18" dolls.  One pair were Tinkerbell PJ's again out grown and upcycled into doll jammie bottoms.  Next she took a pair of athletic style boys shorts and repurposed them into a pair of track pants for a doll.  I told her I did not want to make doll clothes, so she decided to try it herself.  Look below and see the results.  Cute, trendy, and earth friendly.  Can't beat that!!!!

Will fit 18" dolls.  This pattern fit Cabbage Patch, should also fit American Girl and others.

This one just in!  Track suit for Cabbage Patch or other 18" doll.  This one may not make it to the store.  There is a 4 year old that has claimed it for her doll.

RRR Store Almost Ready for Final Touches

Just received word--the bathroom is done, the heating is updated and ready, the wall is finished for painting, the ceiling will be done this week, and the carpet will be laid by the 1st of November.  The store will be ready for us to set up.  We can get our fixtures in the store, put in our phone, get our vendors set for delivery the first weekend in November and we should be up and running for our grand opening November 10 - 12.  Hooray!!!!

Or oh no!  How will we get it all finished?  We are excellent at working under a deadline.  By our grand opening we will have the shelves filled and racks ready for your shopping pleasure!  We will run specials on our Facebook page, so be sure to like us or follow by e-mail here on the blog.  Just fill out the section to the right and get notification of new blogs through your e-mail account.

We only have one or two vendor spots left.  Anyone on the fence needs to call me.  I have contracts coming in the mail.  Just had one arrive Saturday and a call from someone yesterday.  We should have an excellent amount of choices for shoppers.  We can't wait to get opened up and see everyone.

Set aside some time in November to come to our store.  Rebel Roxie Rose is on the way . . . .

Another Day Closer to Halloween and More

Rebel Roxie Rose has me all stirred up.  Halloween is coming and I want to get ready for that here at home, yet I need to make things for the store.  What a quandary!  So many things to do and no ability to focus.

The other half of Roxie is busy doing the same thing.  Working on a Halloween party for the kids, complete with food, games, and pumpkin decorating stations for both kids and adults and working toward the opening of the store.

Our list of things to do continues to grow longer and longer.  This is the second time I have typed this post, the first time I was happily typing away when the electricity flashed off and back on quickly.  Not quickly enough; I lost my first attempt.  I was doing so well, too.

The things I am working on right now:  assigning vendor IDs for our artisans, getting the paperwork in order for them, sending out inventory blanks and instruction sheets.  Then I need to actually make something for the store and not leave all of it for the real creative brains of the outfit to do.  My project right now are the 5 x 7 framed first name poems.  My friend started out wanted poems for the names of her grandchildren.  We found one in a 5x7 frame, then the second one came and we found another.  But after that they were no where to be found.  So I looked up the meaning and origin of the name and made a four line poem to coincide with the meaning.  Then I decorated it accordingly with colors and art or shapes she wanted.  Now I do names (many will have to be special ordered due to different spellings) and I do occupations.  Some popular occupations are teachers, farmers, postal workers, and nurses.  If you have an occupation you want honored with a poem, let me know.  I'll try to do it for the store or for you.

Also, I am going to try my hand at some special occasion cards.  Some may be a little naughty, others funny and I can do serious.  But what's the fun it that?

On to Rebel Roxie Rose progress.  More vendors are sending in contracts daily.  One of our vendors, J & S Metal Arts of Eudora started a Facebook page.  If you get a chance, check it out.

I need to go for now.  Until next time . . .

Vendors Signing Up for Rebel Roxie Rose and What We are Selling

Thought some of you may want to know what Rebel Roxie Rose will be carrying in the store.  Of course, we will have our own handcrafted items which include:  Jayhawk Earrings, pendants, and other accessories, fashion earrings, holiday earrings, and more, the latest in fashion hair clips, painted home decor and gifts, name/occupation poems, cards, tutus, and other new and unusual handcrafted items.  We will also have gifts for women, men, and children.  There will be candles (handcrafted right here in Eudora), bath salts, lip balm and lotions.  For the kitchen we will carry aprons and other cute kitchen accessories.  There will be a children's section which will include bibs, baby blankets, tutus, and items for older children too.  Decor for the home will be available in everyday and holiday choices.  We will have silk flower arrangements, some furniture (cute and interesting), wall hangings, pillows, wreaths of all kinds, and metal work handcrafted for your home and garden.  Christmas will be big at Rebel Roxie Rose.  Besides the gifts available we will also have special Christmas ornaments and decorations for your home.

When the remodeling is finished and we are moved in, we will be posting pictures of our products on this blog, so keep watching.  Also, we will offer delivery to selected areas for birthdays and special occasions at a reasonable price.  Some restrictions may apply.

All this and everything you purchase at Rebel Roxie Rose will help to stimulate the economy within 250 miles of our store.  Anything you purchase in our store must be made in that 250 mile radius.  No vendor may practice resale.  All the vendor products are sold through the store by members of their group.  We encourage the philosophy of reuse, repurpose, and recycle in a stylish, modern, and artistic way.

Today, we will feature one of our vendors signed up to be in our store.  They are the Scented Flame.  They make bath and body products, candles, moisturizers, and lip balm.  Visit their website at www.thescentedflame.com.  Here is a picture of one example of their soap.  You can find them on Facebook and at www.scented-flame.blogspot.com.

IT'S BEEN A BUSY 2 WEEKS!

I have to apologize for not updating this blog for the store.  I have lots of excuses, but won't list them.  Instead I will get right to the news and updates.

We headed to Mound City weekend before last to scope out the vendors.  We are close to capacity, but want to find things that are unusual (without being weird) and quality to offer our customers.  We want you to be able to find things in our store that are the quality you want and something you can be proud and excited to keep or give as a gift.  There were several interesting booths there and we invited a few to consider joining us.

Last Saturday, we went to the Maple Leaf Festival in Baldwin City, KS.  There were a few new products there that were extremely good quality, unusual, and creative.  We are very excited.

Two more vendors have signed up this week.  We will get a list out as soon as possible.  Would like to wait until everyone has confirmed their spot.

Rebel Roxie Rose should be an interesting store.  We will try to keep it fresh and enjoyable to visit and shop.  There will be contests, drawings, and events.  The holidays will be fun.  We will try to have a variety of products for Christmas, New Year's, and Valentine's Day along with the rest of our regular merchandise.  Mother's Day will also be an event we will try to have gifts for the special people in your life.

Is there something you are looking for in the handcrafted department?  Let us know and we will try to get it in the store.  Don't forget to "like" us on Facebook.  That is where you will find our specials, coupons, and giveaway events.  We are looking forward to opening up and having a grand opening celebration in mid November.

Right now remodeling is in progress.  There is a new wall on the West end of the shop.  New lines are being installed for heating so we can be warm and cozy in the winter months.  The bathroom is getting a total remodel.  Now the bathroom is an important room in the store!  We will keep you updated.  Sign up here on the blog to keep up with us through your e-mail.

Until later . . . .

EUDORAFEST WAS SUCCESS!

Rebel Roxie Rose had a good day at the Eudorafest.  The crowd was busy looking and buying.  We met some new people and saw several old friends.  Roxie's Jar full of goodies was won by Brandy Williams of Eudora, KS.  She guessed the exact number of items in the jar at 32.  Congrats to Brandy!

Roxie is getting started on making stock for the new store opening up early November 2011 at 101 W. 10th St., Eudora, KS.  We have several other vendors on board.  As the contracts are signed and we get our list, we will release it here and on Facebook.

Keep in touch.
