Busy Month for Rebel Roxie Rose

Editorial comments are placed at the bottom of this blog.  These views may or may not be shared by all involved in Rebel Roxie Rose and their vendors.  Now for the nice part of the blog--I'll save my sharp tongue for last.

This month was kicked off with 4th of July.  Rebel Roxie Rose had a great holiday and we hope you did too!  The sale around the 4th was successful and we want to thank all that came in and purchased our items from our red, white, and blue collection.

Our next event was a sad one.  Our frog girls took one for the team when vandals tore them from the wall around the sign and pulled the stuffing out of them (literally).  Also torn from the posts were the summer decorations.  They ended up on the roof of the eye care clinic.  To the ones that did this, we are close to identifying you and you should be ashamed of yourselves!

July 20, we set up at Eudora Family Fun Night with handmade bubble wands and bubble solution.  Due to the hot weather, not as many Eudora residents braved the high temps as the month before, but the ones that did come, had loads of fun.  We gave bubble wands and bubble shooters to all that came to our booth and let them play in trays of homemade bubble solution.  It was messy, but fun.

The next day, Roxie and Rose went down to the store and got things ready for the Customer Appreciation Day Sale.  Lots of great items on sale for 20%, 30%, and 50% off.  Many of our regulars came in to take advantage of our sale.  Some were out of town on vacation.  Thanks for all your support.  We had a good day on Saturday and appreciate everyone braving the hot weather to come to the store.  Without our loyal customers, we wouldn't be able to stay in business and sell our wares.  Our goal is to offer you unique items that you want at affordable prices.  We price our merchandise according to the amount we have to pay for it.  That is why some similar items are priced differently.  If we get a good deal, so do you.

During the last two weeks we had to restock, plus make some new products in our handcrafted line.
Rose, Roxie, and her hubby have all been out trying to find merchandise for you, our customers.  Roxie and Rose have been working on new handcrafted products too.  Here is a sample of what will be available this Friday and Saturday in our store.

If you are planning on coming to Eudora
for the CPA this weekend, stop by the store.  Friday we will be open 9 - 6.  Saturday, we will be open 9-3, we will be closing early Saturday so we can participate in the
CPA parade.

Look for our ad in the new "Discover Eudora" publication.  Although we do belong to the Chamber of Commerce, we will not have a feature article in the publication.  It appears that since we are one block West of Main Street, we are not considered part of downtown.  It would have been nice if the publishers and the others involved in this would have featured all of the downtown area merchants, since we are new to town (less then a year) and do participate in the community events and we advertised in the publication I have to wonder why we were excluded.  Well, I will quit pissing and moaning now.  Just remember to come and see us when you are in downtown Eudora.  We are only one block off of Main and have plenty of parking.  We are right next to the Eudora Eye Care Center.  Look for us when you come to town!

Until next blog. . . .

Vandalism at RRR Destroys Frogs!

Yes, I realize that is a dramatic title for this post, but did it get your attention?  Well, it is true.  We went by to pick something up from the store on Sunday around noon and was greeted by one of our summer frog windsocks hung over the door handle.  We had put the "girls" out front around our temporary sign to greet everyone for the summer.  We attached them firmly so the wind wouldn't blow them away.  Vandals had to yank them down, but in the process tore them up.  There was stuffing coming out everywhere!  A grisly sight.  Our summer post decorations had been pulled off and thrown on the roof.  Here are the pictures:

We were shocked that anyone would do this.  Senseless destruction of property and the frogs are none too happy about any of this.  The frog girls have happily greeted everyone this summer.  It was close to the time for them to be removed and then this happened.  The girls may have a statement to make before long.  We'll see how they do after the trauma of it all.

I may make a joke or two about this, but it is no laughing matter.  The disrespect this shows for others, doesn't say much for our town.  They were quite brave to do this under the lights and cameras.  We have been lucky up until this incident, to have nothing done to our outside decorations.

Rebel Roxie Rose is back to normal and we are running a contest on facebook.  So if you haven't joined us, please do so if you are a facebook user.  Better go . . . . . until next blog.

Local, Handmade, and Just Plain Fun . . . that's what RRR is made of.

We have been soooo busy at Rebel Roxie Rose, my blogging ended up on the back burner.  I have to apologize to the ones of you following it.  RRR has been going through some changes and growth.  We have expanded the variety of items we carry.  Truly something for everyone.

We went to Eudora Family Night in June and fun was had by all (really).  Roxie stayed busy building balloon animals and thanks to the Cluck family, the Roxie Rose Gang was able to meet demand.  Couldn't have done it without them!  The next day was our sidewalk sale which was very successful.  Will do it all again this month (kind of like the Katy Perry song "Friday night").

RRR is still loyal to our original concept of selling local products.  All handmade items are currently made within 50 miles of our store.  All other items are either produced or purchased within 150 miles of our store.  Our vintage furniture is clean, updated, and in good shape.  We do our best to find pieces that will be something you will want in your home.  Unusually painted and detailed we try to find wooden pieces that will last for years.  Vintage chairs are chosen for style and sturdiness.  Right now we have a mid century Eames style metal and padded folding chair with the original upholstery.  The color is one that is hard to find -- red with black metal.  This sturdy chair is a classic that would be great in a front entrance, used for extra seating or for an addition to your mid century decor.  So cool, it was hard for me to put it in the store.  It is priced in store at $35.  Believe me, that is a good price for the condition and the color.  White and beige can be found, but red?  We haven't been able to find anymore, but am still looking.

Also, Roxie has been busy painting chests, bureaus, buffets, coffee tables, and more.  Recently, she sold a really cute desk.  Now we have a great vintage wooden chest of drawers with 4 drawers and bottom double doors for extra storage.  Sturdy and in good repair it has been dry brushed with a cream paint to allow all the beauty marks from age to shine through.  It's look can be described as country or boho depending on what you put it with. This piece can change with you. Can't beat the price of $75.

Also available is a post modern coffee table painted a yummy green with a retro design in the center.  As always, solid and in excellent condition. Priced to sell at $35.

Rebel Roxie Rose is still carrying local handmade items by several vendors.  We are always making things ourselves and so are our vendors.  The Scented Flame is busy making new candles and favorite fall scents.  A new summer scent, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, is light yellow with darker yellow dots scattered throughout the candle.  All of their 3 x 3 candles burn approximately 60 hours.  Priced at $8.00 each, they burn down evenly and the scent fills a large area all the way to the end.  Our store is over 700 sq. ft.  We can smell the one we are burning throughout the store from start to finish.  $8 each.

There will be more info about other vendors in our next few blogs.  Keep watching!  We'll be blogging more often and sending out more info for you, but right now will stop and let the keyboard cool off!   Until next blog . . . .
