Fall Preview Special Hours on Wednesday 8/29/2012
This last week was very busy for the Rebel Roxie Rose crew. Besides being the first week of school for the kiddos, we started our fall hours. It was tough getting back into the swing of things. Thankfully, we had a very busy Friday and Saturday.
That meant that on Sunday we were busy restocking the store. Have we got some goodies for you! Not only did we add a fantastic bedroom area (complete with antique dresser, full bed with a curved footboard and a night stand), but we added some items we haven't had before. We have an unusual breakfast tray/lap letter writing desk we are offering for sale. The legs fold under it for easy storage and when set up, it can be flat or the top can be pulled up to sit at an angle to write letters, checks, notes, or lists. It is a soft green with a floral design in one corner. We are not redoing it, but rather leaving it in its original condition. A unique piece you must see to appreciate. The picture does not do it justice.
Of course, we found some more jars; all different shapes and sizes. From quart down to spice size and unusual shapes. There are knick knacks galore. Some kitchen items to help make your kitchen look more retro and cozy. But this Wedneday will be special. We will hold an event from 5:30-8:30.

The Rebel Roxie Rose Fall Preview
New items and new vendors will be showing their wares on Wednesday evening. Our vendors will be offering some new items that will be in the store for the first time. Don't miss out on this. For the ones of you that cannot make it during the day, we are going to hold these special hours this one day so everyone can come in and browse and get a chance to check out our newest additions. You will even get to see the beginnings of our (dare I say it?) Halloween display. We know! It seems awfully early, but Labor Day is only a few days away and autumn will start kicking into high gear and the days will pass quickly.
Homespun Crafts joined us this last month bringing in Bag Buddies, pin cushions, bibs and burpers with more on the way. We are making room for The Unique Needle (specializing in heirloom sewing and machine embroidery), and The Violet Pansy (making aprons, children's clothing, adult pjs and more). Also, Zany Zanni Designs made their debut this weekend with a piece of Drexel furniture that had been completely redone (and now sold). They are joining us, The Scented Flame and Jeanna Linzer-Stampin' Up, as local (all within 50 miles of our store) vendors supplying our store with handcrafted quality products. Along with Vintage Vixen, Prim Country, and JR's Finds we have a wonderful variety of local items that are made, purchased, or produced within 150 miles of our shop. Help us help the area economy. Every dollar you spend with us stays in our area to help strengthen our economic growth and health.

Special Opening Wednesday, August 15 at 3:00 p.m.
Here in Eudora, we work on a special kind of schedule. We open our stores according to the needs and wants of the customers. For some reason, Wednesdays are often busy days. That said, Rebel Roxie Rose has only been open Friday and Saturday over the summer months, but we will return to being open Wednesday after school begins (which it begins this Thursday).
Cami's Cake Company is opening Wednesday, August 15 from 3-8 p.m. for a charity bake sale. They will have tickets that can be purchased as a donation and there are several prizes to win. Many of us in the community (including Roxie Rose) contributed items for the prizes. The tickets will be $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00, with the proceeds going to Share Our Strength's Great American Bake Sale.
Rebel Roxie Rose will also be open these hours and will be offering a Sizzlin' Sale here at the end of summer. We have prepared our final summer sales tables! We are doing a final markdown and are taking 50% off the lowest price marked. Grab Bags that are left will be $1. $1 burp rags, $2 T-skirts, $3 T-shirts, and list goes on and on. Also, all original poems already in stock will be on sale; 5x7 framed $4 each and all larger $5 each. Come in for the 1st day of this sale and get the good stuff at low, low prices before it is all picked over. School starts Thursday so this is the end of summer. We have already started a table with a fall theme. Several back-to-school gift items are available for teachers and students alike. Don't miss coming in on this special sales day.
We have been very fortunate to have added on several new facebook friends on our page in the last 10 days. Our facebook page has been a great addition for us. We can stay in touch with our customers and show off our newest creations and additions. We also added a new vendor who lives outside of Eudora a few miles. Judy of Homespun Crafts has made and brought in some really cute "bag buddies". Upcycled using children's clothing and new fabric, it is a really great idea for storing your bags, using for a baby hamper, storing stuffed animals, and more. Come in and see them. She makes them in all kinds of themes from sports to owls and everything in between. She is also working on some burpers and burp cloths to add to her line. Those should be in soon.
This blog is for our fb friends and our friends that don't do facebook. Hopefully, it will help you keep up with what we are doing as the year goes on. Let us know if you like it and let us know what you would like to see in the store.
Our store has been going through some growing pains. Now we have vendors from no farther away than 50 miles and everything in our store is made, produced, or purchased within 150 miles of the shop. Every penny we spend stays close to home and so does the money you spend in our store. Keeping it local as possible. Roxie Rose is local, handmade, and just plain fun!
Hope to see you Wednesday afternoon and evening. Don't forget to go down to Cami's Cake Co. for some delicious cupcakes ($2) each and purchase a ticket to try to win one of over 34 prizes. Good luck and until next blog . . . .
We won Third Place in Floats at the Eudora CPA
That's right! We were (and are) winners. Rebel Roxie Rose won 3rd in the float division in the CPA parade. Our float designer (Roxie) has placed in parades for other organizations in the past. This year she had a chance to do it up right for our own shop. She started planning early. But the heat came and we weren't sure we could manage to participate. We only had her hubby's pick-up to use (and thanks to him for allowing us to doll it up). She worked hard the days before the parade getting everything together and putting together bubble wands and glow sticks with candy attached to toss out to kids on the route. Then the day of the parade was really a hot one! She covered the top of the cab, had help from the littlest rebel getting decorations made, and put the signs together that hung on each side of the bed. I helped by cutting out the letters we used on 3 of the signs. Then in the late hot afternoon sun we set up the girls in the back of the truck.
First we built a riser and covered it, carried "Patty" (our manniquin/dress form) to the truck bed. Patty didn't want to go and ran off and jumped off the river bridge, but all it did was caused her to be shorter--that's our story and we're stickin' to it. After Patty had her little accident and became about 3 feet shorter, we had to make last minute adjustments to our display. It took some inventive bunge binding, but she made the parade with her two friends; Freida and Francine Frogleg. If you remember, the Frogleg girls were put out of commission by vandals here a few weeks ago. But the troopers that they are, they came out to make an appearance for the parade. Francine helped to steady poor old Patty as Frieda rode along on the purple lawn chair. The Frogleg girls were not going to miss the parade. They wanted to get out and show everyone they were still able to have fun.
On to some subjects that are more solemn. First, thanks to all that wished us condolences on the loss in our extended Rebel Roxie Rose family. We passed them on to the immediate family memebers. Thanks for your concern. Next, we said good-bye to a wonderful vendor we had with us since the beginning of this venture. Gail's Doll Clothes out of Olathe, Kansas will no longer have her products in the store. However, if you need clothes for 18" or 15" dolls, we can direct you to her. She also has an Etsy shop. Thanks for being with us Gail and Amy. You were wonderful to work with this last several months. Another vendor that has moved on is Julie Smith of Two Freckled Frogs in Lawrence. Good luck, Julie, in your monogramming and applique business. That is all of the serious news, now on to more about what is ongoing~
Fun is a big part of Rebel Roxie Rose's mission. Unique, quality goods at affordable prices and a fun place to shop. We have had some changes to our line this month. We will be offering some new bling while supplies last. Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but these sparkly rhinestones run a close second!
I have more news and things to show you, but I better go before you get tired of reading! Next time, I'll show you some of our new furniture! Until next blog. . . .
