Thanks to the Roman's we have a leap day. They figured out that without that extra day every four years, the seasons eventually moved out of alignment according to the calendar and the weather. Using the equinoxes to go by, they added the extra day every four years to keep the seasons on track. The rotation of the earth all around the sun takes 365 of our days plus about 1/4 of a day a year, hence the extra day every 4 years. Imagine if it had not been added to the man-made calendar. The spring equinox could arrive in the dead of winter! We don't need that.
With the weather here in Kansas and across Missouri yesterday, we are all very aware that spring (and tornado season) are on the way. With Harveyville, KS getting partially wiped off the map and all the damage in Branson, it looks like everything is about a month ahead. Or at least 2 weeks. The sirens went off here in Eudora and we all headed to the basement. No use taking chances.
I went by the store early and nothing was distrubed by the wind and the rain. Surprisingly, our decorations outside stayed in place for the most part. Of course, they were put up pretty securely. Roxie (Kristi) is working the store today. She is constructing tutus and getting more aprons ready to be hung up for display. I need to finish up the shamrock shirts. I have 2 left in youth size 6-8 (small). Anyone from Eudora reading this, the kids have to wear green tomorrow and then do Dr. Suess on Friday. Just a reminder. We have some green hair clips. I will get the shirts done and get them down there this afternoon. They are $6.95 each. Here is a pic. I better close this. Until next blog . . .
